CROCS & Crocsbutter

Ok... I know some people really don't like Crocs and people think they're ridiculous. I have to admit that I didn't care for them either until I received a pair for Christmas a couple of years ago...they had MICKEYS on them instead of the usual holes. I now have 3 pair (the red ones, pink/grey, and black/red) and a blue pair that are more like slippers that I got at Walt Disney World (I think they are WDW exclusives because I can't even find the same ones on the Crocs website!!!).

Recently they've begun to look pretty dull. I'd heard about this stuff called CROCSBUTTER that is supposed to shine them up so they look good again

If you look at the picture above you can see the shine on the one on the right. The left one has not been cleaned yet.

I'm pleased to have my Mickey Crocs shiny again. Mickeys are not easy to come by so I want to keep them looking good as long as I can.

So, if you and/or your family have Crocs that are looking rather shabby, get yourself some Crocsbutter. You can get it most places where you find genuine Crocs products.

(this is an unpaid endorsement, but if someone from Crocs should happen to read this, I'd be happy to make it a paid endorsement)

Tractors, Hats, Ponies & Bulls

It's Stock Show time in Denver. Sis and TMann are in town for a few days so we decided the stock show would be fun and different. TMann enjoyed climbing in and out of the trucks, cars and tractors, riding the pony and sitting on a Brahma Bull.

Here are a few highlights:

Getting a few pointers before tackling that Big Brahma Bull!!!

Yeah! I'm Cool!!!

Shaky start to 2009

I'm not going to say that 2009 has started out badly, but I haven't found much to be happy about yet...

1. I did connect with someone from the past which felt very good. However, he shared with me that his Grandmother, Adrienne, who at one time I was quite close to, had passed away last month. I found her obituary stating she had passed away on December 12. While searching for her obituary, I found another one from the same family. This was Adrienne's brother-in-law. He passed away just on January 4. So sad... two family members in less than one month.

2. In October I had received an email response from another friend indicating that things were not good in her life as her husband was near death from cancer. I had not heard anything from her since that point so again I went digging. Again, I found the obituary. Her husband passed away on December 19.

3. I've had laryngitis since December 29. A couple of days I had NO VOICE. I have not been sick ... no cold, no aching, no sore throat... just a funny voice. I finally went to the Doctor in January 8. There has been no definitive diagnosis. He gave me a prescription for a steroid for 4 days. If it is not significantly better by Monday, he is going to recommend a visit to an ENT specialist.

4. One of my best friends was laid off from his job on Friday. This is the second layoff since I met him 4 years ago. He's doing ok, but now is not a good time to be looking for a job.

5. The rest of what I'm worried about I'm not going to write, because at this point in time, it's not mine to share.

I'm going to try to keep a positive attitude about the things that can still be changed or improved. There are things to look forward to, but right now it's kind of rough. Just say a few prayers for our country as we head into a new, unknown era.

Goodbye 2008

One of the blogs that I follow is written by a woman named Annie. It is called MORE THAN JUST A MOM. I've really come to admire her writing and that fact that she doesn't seem to be afraid to tell it like it is.

Her post today really got me to thinking though. It is entitled Adieu 2008. It is a recap of what happened with her and her family throughout 2008. It made me sit back and start thinking about what has happened in my life this year. If you'll indulge me, I'll give you glimpse of my year in review:

January brought good things for a friend of mine as he finally got himself out of a bad living situation of more than 14 months. It was a sense of relief for me and his other friends as well as a sense of freedom for him. It also brought a very sad time for both of us. More so for him than me. His mother passed away mid-month. It was a blessing for her as she had been struggling with a crippled body for many years. She was a wonderful lady and I'm glad I got to share her life for the short time.

February brought more sadness when another friend lost her 3+ year battle with breast cancer. Again, those of us still here miss her deeply, but we know that she is no longer in pain and is not suffering.

Spring brought several get togethers with friends which included helping one friend celebrate a #0th birthday. My Grandpa celebrated his 94th birthday. We celebrated a new baby in Holly's family. One of my friends moved away (eastern Nebraska), but we keep in touch via email and even got to see each other the day after Christmas.

One of my friends bought a motorcycle and we spent a lot of time running around on that throughout the summer.

July brought the annual and bi-annual family gatherings. Got to see family members that had not been around for many years.

Holidays moved in for the fall and things got busy, traveling to Nebraska for Thanksgiving, home for a week, off to Florida for a week, home for a week and off to Nebraska again for Christmas.

So that's a brief recap of what my year included. I've been enjoying writing my blog because I love sharing pictures and fun/interesting stories. Through this media, I can write them and if someone doesn't want to read them, they don't have to. I thank all of you that have commented along the way and I hope you'll continue to read and comment.

Love to you all!

Happy New Year!!!!!

Roo :-)
